Dr. Marianna Abrams leads a team of outstanding Bastyr graduate naturopathic doctors and acupuncturists at Water’s Edge Natural Medicine. Dr. Abrams oversees the care of every patient, blending her background in naturopathic medicine and Oriental medicine/acupuncture with traditional western-allopathic medicine to offer complete, comprehensive, and effective healing approaches for her patients.
She specializes in health rebuilding and endocrine disorders with emphasis on hormone balancing, weight loss, and longevity.
She is a licensed primary care physician, a licensed Naturopathic Physician (ND), and a licensed Acupuncturist in the state of Washington.
In Seattle since 1996, Dr. Abrams confirmed her U.S. medical diploma in 1999, successfully passing the U.S. Medical Licensing Exam and Clinical Skills Assessment exam. She went on to study naturopathy at Bastyr University and graduated with a Doctorate in Natural Medicine and a Master’s degree in Acupuncture and Chinese Herbal Medicine.
In her clinical studies at Bastyr, Dr. Abrams focused on treating endocrine (hormone) pathologies and on diet and weight loss therapy. She also had a fellowship in Oriental Medicine at the Longhua Hospital, Shanghai, and Shanghai University of TCM, China, where she specialized in endocrine challenges such as thyroid disorders, diabetes, and menopause.
Dr. Abrams originally graduated traditional medical school from the Pavlov Institute (the former Soviet Union) with high honors; she completed an internship in internal medicine and residency in anesthesiology and intensive care. She’s also taught medical students, published research papers, and worked as a supervising physician in the Intensive Care Unit resuscitating and stabilizing critically ill patients.
Dr. Abrams is a professional member of the American Association of Naturopathic Physicians (AANP) and the American Academy of Anti-Aging Medicine, as well as a Diplomat of the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM). Dr. Abrams has a love and passion for medicine and science and is deeply committed to the well-being of her patients.
