What Foods Help with Adrenal Fatigue?

Adrenal fatigue can put you through a lot, both physically and emotionally. Did you know there are strong connections between diet and adrenal fatigue?

Let’s talk about what foods to eat and which ones to avoid to help you live a healthy lifestyle, free of chronic adrenal fatigue.

Adernal Fatigue Diet: Dos and Don’ts

To heal yourself from adrenal fatigue, you’ll need to have a diet rich in protein, fat, and complex carbohydrates at each meal and snack time. By combining these three essential things, you’ll give your body a more consistent energy base as you go throughout the day.

Remember not to overdo it with a lot of sugary or processed foods, as this causes your blood sugar to peak quickly and then crash.

      • Great sources of protein: Eat high quality fish, dairy, eggs, meat, and protein-rich foods such as seeds and nuts.
      • Fresh vegetables are key to maintaining a healthy adrenal system. They’re packed with necessary vitamins, fiber, minerals, and antioxidants that are crucial for healthy adrenals.
      • Avoid eating too much fruit if you live with adrenal fatigue or have blood sugar problems. Fruit has potassium and fructose in each serving which can be a bad combination for recovering adrenals. Some fruits to avoid include bananas, figs, oranges, grapefruit, and dates. Fruits that are still okay to eat include cherries, kiwi, plums, pears, apples, and papayas.

Why Oils Are Important in Adrenal Fatigue Diet?

Another nutritional way to relieve adrenal fatigue is mixing 1-2 tablespoons of fresh oils (cold-pressed olive oil, grapeseed, safflower, or flax oils) into your food. Add them to veggies, meat, soups, and grains.

The most important part of helping your body of adrenal fatigue is to make a habit of eating healthy, whole, natural foods. Avoid processed food, or things that are sugary or excessive in fat. Changing your eating habits will change the way your body works. You’ll start feeling better right away!
